“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

On-line resources for Librarians
In addition to the usual Readers' Advisory web resources like NoveList Plus or GoodReads, here are a few additional links to checkout when suggesting titles for bibliotherapeutic purposes.
The Bibliotherapy Education Project: This project was born out of a series of discussions between Dr. Pehrsson and Dr. McMillen when both were assistant professors at Oregon State University, the project migrated to UNLV and is now at a new home at Central Michigan University. Their work was founded in a joint belief in the enormous power of literature and stories as therapeutic tools. Together they assisted emerging and seasoned practitioners to utilize literature with competency in their work with clients and students. Dr. McMillen retired in 2012 and this project continues with many others who are passionate about connecting individuals with reading material to promote personal and professional growth. Since its development, the Bibliotherapy Education Project Website has been accessed by individuals in over 70 countries.
Whichbook: Whichbook is a unique site for choosing what to read. It enables millions of combinations of factors and then suggests books which most closely match your needs.

Sample Bibliography for teens Struggling with Body Image
The following bookmark was created in conjunction with a Body Image and Self-Perception workshop that was presented at a local high school in my area. I was approached by the facilitators to create a resource for the students that highlighted books with characters who had the same obstacles to overcome. The titles were carefully selected as to not promote further negative feelings, but instead offer solutions and show that the participants were not alone in their struggles.
Sample Bibliography for Children with Anxiety
Amongst the many issues children face, from mental illness to disabilities to societal or familial problems, I have developed a detailed list of resources for children with anxiety. It is my belief that should anxious children learn coping mechanisms early on and understand that they are not alone with their fears and worries, that as they grow, they can become less afraid of their surroundings and develop into less anxious adults. The titles listed are a mere sample of all the many effective titles available. The ones included in this list are all highly reviewed and represent a wide range of ages. Each picture contains a link to the title’s WorldCat record, where you can see if your local library carries the title.
